ElectroBassFantastic
Last night I was digging through my hard drives and I found some demo mixes from 2005 and 2006. One in particular was intended to be a promo for some clubs in Denver. For whatever reason the mix was never finalized. Figured I better share them before I forget again or the drive craps out. Unfortunately there is no track list but most of the songs are bootleg and white label vinyl. In other words you are going to have a very hard time finding them. In fact I doubt I could even find them and they are in my studio. Yes I said vinyl as in black devilish seductive disks with music on them. The fidelity of the mix was surprisingly impressive. Even when recorded to digital the tracks sound exceptionally analog. FYI this mix is what I like to call actual electro not electro house. This is by no means untsa untsa. Not that there is anything wrong with untsa untsa but I do grow weary 21 year old Ableton DJ kids claiming that they spin electro when its nothing more then house music. This is why when I'm describing electro to people I call it electro electro. Then they are like ahhhhh electro electro. Same thing works with techno. Q: Is this techno music? A: Well yes but its not techno techno.

Not much I can say about MJ that hasn't already been said ...
Mark de Clive-Lowe sent this joint featuring Lady Alma to the inbox and here's what it said:
"we lost a true gem and a goliath in his prime. i don't really have ample words to pay homage and full respect to MJ and his passing... so i'll hand it over to some music. lady alma and i recorded this a while back but this seems an appropriate time to share it with everyone... feel free to share and vibe outtttt :)

ALICE IN WONDERLAND MARCH 2010
Stunning new concept art offers a first look at Alice in Wonderland as seen through the eyes of director Tim Burton. The images, released by Disney as Burton works on the remake in London, show Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter (pictured above) and provide a fascinating peek at the fabulist director’s vision for Alice, The Red Queen and the movie’s other central characters.
The pictures hint at an elegant, richly textured fantasy world that honors Lewis Carroll’s 19th-century fairy tale while incorporating bits of Burton’s trademark weirdness (check the grimacing flowers in the picture below).
The images are drawn from the world of Alice in Wonderland, as re-imagined by one of the world’s most visually arresting directors. The movie is scheduled for release March 5, 2010.

MOS DEF HAS A GREAT IDEA. LET'S SEE WHO IS THE BEST
I actually am supporting Mos Def with this challenge to to Jay Z, he laid out a viable plan that would be great for Hip Hop and the money would go to charity.
After proclaiming the death of the must used autotune how can the so-called greatest rapper alive ignore such a challenge? Are you listening Jay Z?

VINYL SALES INCREASE
Vinyl continues to rock on! According to Nielsen SoundScan, overall U.S. vinyl sales have risen by 50% in just the first five months of the year. With more than 1 million vinyl records sold, compared to 701,000 copies sold last year around the same time, vinyl sales are projected to reach 2.8 million in 09. Rock albums seem to be the most popular with vinyl lovers accounting for more than 70% of all vinyl sold. Country albums which sold just 5,000 vinyl copies last year in the first 5 months, have already tripled that benchmark with 15,000 vinyl albums sold.
