MARK FORCE :: BUGZ IN THE ATTIC CREW

I've been in a house mood today, and when I say "House Music", its not the crap you're thinking of - Banging Electro Pop, Bleeps, A.D.D. fidget crap. I'm talking Deep, Funky in the UK tradition. Mark Force is a familiar name with people who know their music.

One of broken beat supergroup Bugz in the Attic, , Mark Force was born and raised in West London and has been producing and DJing for 15 years

One of broken beat supergroup Bugz in the Attic, Mark Force was born and raised in West London and has been producing and DJing for 15 years. He got this first pair of turntables at 11 and started practicing and Djing immediately, playing hiphop and electro. Skip forward to the dawn of the 90s and the young G Force gets his first schooling in how to programme breaks and cut up beats when ILS, king of breakbeat, takes him on as protégée. By seventeen G Force, (as he was known until about 2000) had released his first record on drum and bass label Rugged Vinyl. He began playing drum and bass and jungle on South London pirate Don FM around this time too - holding down the coveted Sunday night slot from ’92 to ’96. More productions followed, including for Good Looking and the infamous Reinforced Records. The album Just Another Number was released on Reinforced in 1999 - a collaboration with Reinforced label-mate Seiji. It was while making this album that Mark first met and worked with Bembe Segue and Kaidi Tatham, and it’s a musical relationship that’s maintained through to current productions and collaborations under various names and on various imprints. Seiji and Kaidi Tatham are fellow members of the nine-strong Bugz In The Attic, and Bembe Segue wrote and performed for the Bugz album. Kaidi and Mark also collaborate with Matt Lord, (another Bug), under the name Blakai, and are the production team behind -classics like the underground hit, Afrospace. Bugz were originally a supergroup of producers that came together to turn out killer remixes.

On the back of their success, V2 released Got The Bug in 2005 - a compilation of their finest mixes. They were then invited to record their own original productions. Dancefloor smash, Booty La La was the first of these, and the recently released Back In The Dog House album is the culmination of that work. Mark continues to split his time between production and DJing. A natural born collaborator and inspired by the talent and soulfulness around, he continues to deliver brilliantly produced, progressive British dance music. As a DJ he still loves playing to the crowd and can tear up any party from broken beat to soulful house.

LUVSTEP 2 :: DIRTY SOUTH JOE & FLUFFTRONIX

I'm not this biggest DubStep fan, but this little series put together by Dirty South Joe & Flufftronixs is off the chains. Anything that has to do with love requires soul, which I'm not opposed to. When I need a change of pace I usually throw this on. Digging this series.

Soon to be Future Classic!!!

WHAT IS LUVSTEP?

Luvstep 2 is the sound of electronic gruv glide inside lazer guided lullabies. It’s a return to innocence through experience, best expressed with headphones or in bedrooms. It’s melody for the mess we’re in – the love, the lust, the loss, the lies, the light & the life!

Dirty South Joe & Flufftronix are the messengers and Luvstep is the message. Cross over and come inside.

TRUST IN ME :: PODCAST VOL.4

2010 was a great year in Modern Soul music, as I'm excited to bring you MORE underplayed tunes from the last 11 years. For this particular mix I want to start things off MY WAY, showcasing the slower tempos in Modern Music. Guessing from reactions, it seems people like my Dance friendly/up-tempo tracks on my previous mixes which is great, but I also want people to groove and understand the Beauty in slower tempo's. I hope my latest mix changes your thoughts on any music that is slower then 109 bpm.

All tracks on this mix are from 2000-2011 except for D-Influnce - Hypnotize (1997). This is my tribute to Steve Marston of D' Influence who passed away late last year. Enjoy the mix with a loved one, or some one that you would like to get loved by!

ALMA DOCE :: BRAZILIAN SWEET SOUL MIX

DOWNLOAD

Where do you find the time Allen?! The expected father, 9-5 hustler, commuter and after school DJ on week nights has put together an amazing, hand picked compilation/mix of Brazilian Sweet Soul music.

Recently, The Love of Sweet Soul Music brought us to San Jose where we met some amazing people and they shared there amazing record collection with us. Big up the San Jose Familia Tommy Siquiero, Arlene Soulera, Margarita Galvan, Moe Arroyo, Jose Valle for re inspiring us.

I think the trip to San Jose influenced Allen to put this rare compilation together. Already the AMBASSADOR of Brazilian music on both coasts, Alma Doce takes the Low-Rider approach where lyrics still matter. At a recent listening session Allen reassured me that all these songs are about Love, Heart Break, Staying together etc. Although the language is Portuguese you can feel the Love, Soul and pain in each hand picked Record. What a great mix.

THANKS ALLEN

On a side note Allen and I working on project that is sure to blow your minds. Details soon.
