I was so happy to hear Hot Pocket covering S.O.S Bands - High Hopes live last Saturday evening. I believe it was the second or third song in there set. Hot Pocket sounded amazing, plus the crowd went crazy once those Key Synths set in.
I was going through a bunch of 45's and recorded a few to share this week. This 45 is special to me because it was my POP's record and now its mine, plus The Natural Four is from Oakland California. Great record with great lyrics. Enjoy

This group first recorded in 1968 on a small local label called Boola-Boola.
From there they went to ABC Records, and reached the national charts in 1969 with 'Why Should We Stop Now' (number 31 R & B).
In 1970, they achieved some success with the single 'I Thought You Were Mine' for the ABC label and taken from the album 'Good Vibes'. The group was unable to repeat their success.
Before breaking up in 1971, they recorded an unnoticed single for Bay Area producer Ron Carson that was released on Chess Records.

There's a truly inspiring movement going on in Oakland. Scraper bikes — brightly colored, their spokes woven with foil and often decorated with subverted corporate logos — are weaving through the streets.
Started by the young and motivated Tyrone Stevenson Jr., a.k.a. Baybe Champ, the Scraper Bike King, the Original Scraper Bike Team aims to, in Tyrone's words, "make a change in young people's lives, ’cause it's getting them away from the negative things that Oakland has to offer: gangs, drugs, and violence. Youth that's involved with the Scraper Bike Movement are dedicated and passionate about rebuilding our community by fixing and riding our bikes."
Tyrone requires that Scraper Bike Team members maintain a 3.0 grade point average, reside in Oakland, and always ride single file. After videos of Tyrone's work started popping up a couple years ago on YouTube, "more and more kids in my community wanted a Scraper Bike. I had all the kids come to my house and work on bikes," he told us. He's currently working toward starting up a shop. "We need a location in our neighborhood so we can come and fix on our bikes and build the Scraper Bike Team."
Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums would consider legalizing sideshows, or spontaneous gatherings that feature street racing and car stunts, in a designated area in order to cut down on injuries and deaths, according to his spokesman.
Dellums is interested in "how to solve the issue of endangering the community and endangering the youth in the community,'' spokesman Paul Rose said.
While the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum has come up in various discussions, Rose said the mayor has no specific plan, or location, in mind. "The mayor left it open, saying he's going to work with the police chief on the matter," he said.
New Police Chief Anthony Batts addressed the issue of sideshows at his swearing-in ceremony earlier this week. Shortly after being formally installed as chief, Batts said cracking down on late-night sideshow behavior would be an immediate priority.
Police spokesman Jeff Thomason said the department was stepping up patrols this weekend in response to the incidents.
"Friday and Saturday night, we're going to be out there," he said.
Batts and the department are "looking at different alternatives," and do not yet have a position on sanctioning the activities in certain areas, he said.
"However, the fact still remains that if people are going to break the law, then we're going to be there to enforce it," he said.
The idea of allowing sideshows in designated areas has come up at various times over the years, Oakland City Council President Jane Brunner said. In 2003, Councilwoman Desley Brooks proposed legalizing sideshows in designated areas, away from residential neighborhoods.

With their first group show consisting entirely of altered skate decks, the non-traditional backgrounds seen at Terminal22 remove pieces from the expectations of traditional canvas art and allow works to express themselves through an entirely different set of associations. The upcoming ‘3D Canvas’ show will continue to push that envelope even further by showing dozens of custom urban vinyls and works related to the field. It will be the first of its kind in the East Bay and will begin by answering the question ‘what is urban vinyl?’ Urban vinyl relates to the quickly growing custom toy realm; blank vinyl toys used as a starting point for artists when creating their own original pieces. In such a new media there is no established hierarchy of what has been done for centuries and what you need to prove yourself against. Everything is in the present and if you can’t keep up, you’re out of the game. Customized toys supplied by one of urban vinyls top designer toy companies “STRANGEco”, one-of a kind plush toys, and playful ceramics will fill Terminal22 with over one hundred works of art from the Bay and beyond.
