THE RAH BAND :: ATJAZZ REDIT

The Original track from Rah Band always reminds me of Dam Funk. I remember meeting Damon over at Funkmosphere back in 07/08 before Funkmosphere was a big party. Damon would always drop "Messages from the stars", which is a big tune.

I personally have heard this track way to many times which is why I'm posting this nice re edit from Atjazz who did a fantastic job modernizing this tune.

Hewson founded the The RAH Band - of which he was the sole member and which took its name from his initials - in 1977 in order to release an instrumental called "The Crunch". The piece climbed to number 6 in the UK Singles Chart. Hewson played all the musical instruments himself. A number of jazz funk releases followed. The second big hit single for the RAH Band was in 1985, when the soul ballad "Clouds Across the Moon", also reached number 6 in the UK chart. This single was recorded in conjunction with his then wife, Liz, on vocals.

In July 2007, Hewson released a remixed "Clouds Across the Moon '07", now featuring vocalist Emma Charles.

The drummer on "Clouds Across The Moon" was Peter Boita. The Simmons SDS7 drums that were featured were recorded at Hewson's home studio, and plugged directly into the recording desk. Boita also played drums on other RAH Band's tracks: "Falcon", "Perfumed Garden", "Messages from the Stars", "Are You Satisfied? (Funka Nova)" and "Sorry Doesn't Make it Anymore". The RAH band's releases were issued under a variety of record labels, including Good Earth Records, DJM, KR Records, TMT Records and RCA.

SWEATSHOP :: PARIS

Congratulations to my boy Fluxx who now runs one of the hottest underground Funk & Soul night in France. If you're ever in Paris make sure you stop by and check out this night dedicated to the music we love all on wax. Fluxx has been a regular at Sweater Funk prior to moving, and the Kid has heat.

Big Ups Sir...

Paris based DJ crew Sweatshop (Fluxxx & Brez Dillinger) is now presenting to you the only weekly night dedicated to boogie, modern soul and soulful steppers on original vinyl starting now in Paris France.

Inspired by Dam-Funk’s Funkmosphere night in Los Angeles, Jon Blunck and DJ Guillermo decided to recreate the Funkmosphere vibe in their new digs, San Francisco, in 2008. Using their own soundsystem, they took over a basement in Li Po Cocktails, every Sunday with the goal of throwing a free party that presents this sound on original vinyl strictly for the dancers. After going to a lot of Sweaterfunk party in SF, Fluxxx, dj, musician, producer, dance music fan, decided to bring back that californian vibes to Paris under the name of sweatshop and collaborate with international funk scene dj and musician.

STEVEN & STERLING

A Sweater Funk classic. On any given night one of the crew members will pull this out 12" out, instantaneously setting the dance floor on fire. Taken form the 1982 album titled "One Magic Night"- "Can I be With You Tonight" is easly one of my favorite cuts on the album.

SWEATER FUNK WITH GUEST LAROJ (FUNKMOSPHERE)

Always a great time when our family from Los Angeles comes up to play in the basement. This time around we had one of the smoothest brothers next to Dam-Funk "LAROJ". Laroj came in and rocked the Basement like hurricane. The dance floor was steady the whole night and the dancers must of heard Laroj was in town because they were out in full force. The rain did not stop people from coming to Church on Sunday night.

What a great night, Check out more pictures HERE

THE CHI-LITES

I had the Ipod on Shuffle this morning and "Stop What Your Doing" came on. I forgot how hard this track hits. I think I'm going to pack this for Sweater Funk on Sunday

Seriously how can you not like the Chi-Lites. Three Decades of timeless soul music from the 60s' to the 80's. Whether you like it nice and slow, or to the dance floor the Chi Lites have stood the test of time. If you're unfamiliar with The Chi Lites look them up on google.

TOM NOBLE PRESENTS - LIGER VISION EP

Tom Noble presents the LigerVision project! With the vinyl buying crowd known as one of the uber diggers who always comes up with sweetness. Tom is now slowly establishing himself as one of the new breed boogie, disco and funk producers who drops some retro futuristic boogie funk! Previously released projects on Lotusland, Liger Music and Peoples Potentential Unlimited. Now its time, after several edit releases, to let the world hear some original works!. Together with his buddy Matt Rowland from LigerMusic they deliver this EP with 6 modern takes on classic disco, boogie and funk! Sweaty, synth-heavy instrumental tracks going from warm up-tempo boogie jams such as Dancin Hard and Sleepinmybed to late night summertime funk cuts such as Look and Music Engine. Probably easy to relate this to guys such as Dam Funk, Midnight Star and even the Finnish Putsch 79 guys (making the link to the Clone Loft Supreme Series) in any case... this Ligervision ep surely delivers some heat. Be prepared to hear much more from Tom Noble in the near future...

SWEATER FUNK - LABOR DAY PICTURES

This Past weekend we celebrated Labor Day "Sweater Funk" Style... Sunday prior we blew out the speakers and we all knew the weekend ahead was going to big... Our gracious team capt Jon Blunk made the decision to pay rent late so we could have sound by Labor Day Sunday. Setting Blunk back $200 bucks we set up the donation box in hopes to make some of the money back. By the end of the night we raised enough money so Jon could pay his rent...

A BIG SPECIAL THANK YOU to all who've contributed and donated in the past. Sweater Funk only exists because of your support and our love for the Boogie.

Check out the rest of the PICTURES HERE...
