1993 when singer Amel Larrieux met rapper Bryce Wilson through a mutual friend, and while Amel was working at Rondor Music NY, as a receptionist. The two found themselves perfect for each other as both were upset with the direction their career was taking. Wilson hoped to use the group as a chance to utilize his production talents while Larrieux wanted a chance to shine in R&B.
