Heading to SAN DIEGO next month to pick up this Turntable console from the 60s my aunt scored for me, and While I'm there I'm hopping to get tatted up by Luke Wessman.

I love this guy's style, as he calls it "Traditional Gangster"!

Are Gang Members In L.A. Getting Too Old To Bang?

LA WEEKLY:

Los Angeles police Chief Charlie Beck was asked if one of the reasons gang crime was low in the city because gang members are getting too old to get down. He didn't think so, telling a town-hall gathering of listeners of KPCC (89.3 FM) that "gang membership is not down -- gang violence is down."

Beck said police were targeting trouble-makers, not necessarily gangs themselves. And he gave an endorsement for the city's new, $200,000 gang intervention training academy. He called intervention "the primary thing" that "will eventually be the solution to gang violence that gets exported out of L.A."

Beck made the comments on-air Thursday on Patt Morrison's "Ask The Chief" segment, which aired before a live audience.

Beck is banking on gang intervention in part because he has a limited number of officers, and the city budget doesn't seem to bode well for an increase in the number of badges at the department. Also, the state has been ordered to release 40,000 prisoners to relieve overcrowding. A plan by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to meet the federal order was recently approved, but it's not clear when the convicts will reach the streets.

Experts believe that many of those released will end up in Los Angeles County, and that many are gang members. Beck has said if the community does not reintegrate them in a constructive way, gangs will take them in in a more-destructive way.

NET FLIX - PICK OF THE MONTH

THANK GOD WE STILL HAVE GOOD MOVIES OUT THERE WITH OUT THE HOLLYWOOD BUDGET.

SIN NOMBRE IS ONE INTENSE, THRILLING AND ADVENTUROUS MOVIE. I PERSONALLY LOVE VIOLENT, GANG RELATED MOVIES SO WHEN I SAW THIS TRAILER I WAS ALL FOR IT. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FLICK. HERE'S THE RUN DOWN

Fleeing retaliation from the violent Central American street gang he has deserted, young hood Casper boards a northbound train, where he takes refuge on top of the moving freight cars and hopes for a fresh start in a new country. Dodging authorities and other dangers, he finds a new friend in Sayra (Paulina Gaitan), a Honduran girl also making a run for the American border. Cary Fukunaga directs this exciting thriller.

MS 13
The MS-13 gang, aka Mara Salvatrucha 13, is one of the most violently dangerous gangs in the United States - and one of the most organized. The MS-13 gang has cliques, or factions, located throughout the United States and is unique in that it retains is ties to its El Salvador counterparts. With cliques in Washington DC, Oregon, Alaska, Arkansas, Texas, Nevada, Utah, Oklahoma, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Canada, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, and several other South American countries, the MS-13 gang is truly "international" and on the verge of becoming the first gang to be categorized as an "organized crime" entity.

MS-13 Gang member shows his tattoos.Gang members, who sport numerous tattoos on their bodies and faces, wear blue and white colors taken from the El Salvadoran flag. Their membership is estimated to total over 36,000 in the Honduras alone. Members typically range in age from 11 to 40 years old but children as young as 8 have been known to join. Their progressive increase in violent activities and careless disregard for the law (threats and attacks against law enforcement officials is common), has made them the most feared gang in the United States. MS-13 criminal activities include drug smuggling, gun running, people smuggling, hits for hire, theft, drug sales, arson, and of course, strong arming the locals. Their wide-ranging activities and elevated status has even caught the eye of the FBI who recently initiated wide-scale raids against known and suspected gang members netting hundreds of arrests across the country.

Their penchant for violence is renowned. Members often arrive in the United States with fighting skills gained in military training and are particularly adept with machetes. In March 2004, the Maldon Institute, a Washington DC based think tank, released a report detailing the violent methods MS-13 used, including their increasingly typical (and disturbing) calling card. MS-13 often leaves behind dismembered corpses, complete with the decapitated head, at the scene of their murders. Often a grim note is attached to the body.
