GOOD BYE LOWER HAIGHTERS

Lower Haters, the shop and gallery which has occupied 597 Haight Street since 2006, will be shuttering next month.

Co-owner Janice Myint tells Haighteration that the store intends to close when its current lease expires at the end of April.

Myint writes:

“[I]t’s been an amazing 5 years and we want to thank everyone for all their support.. we’re honored to have had the opportunity to meet so many talented and amazing people and the chance to share their works with everyone. It’s been an awesome ride.”

Lower Haters will be having a closing party during the next Lower Haight Art Walk on April 6th. That night will also double as their final art opening, a show of works by artist Ari Berger with performances by Carlos Santana’s trumpeter Bill Ortiz and guests. And in these final weeks, they’re also having a closeout sale — everything at the shop is currently 40% off.

As for the Lower Haters crew, Myint assures us that no matter what the future may hold, their ties to the neighborhood will remain strong.

“We’ll still be around,” she writes. “We’ll always be Lower Haighters.”
