Lucy Pearl, quite possibly the best R&B group ever.
CHECK EM OUT . . .
Lucy Pearl was an R&B supergroup formed in 1999 as the brainchild of former Tony! Toni! TonĂ©! member Raphael Saadiq and D’Angelo. D’Angelo backed out of the group due to his schedule though. The other members of Lucy Pearl were Dawn Robinson (En Vogue) and Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest). They released their self-titled debut album Lucy Pearl in 2000.
After two singles, "Dance Tonight" and "Don't Mess with My Man", Dawn Robinson left and was replaced by Joi. The new line-up released the track "Without You". The group split up shortly after, releasing no other material.
The group's collaboration with Snoop Dogg and Q-Tip (reuniting the former Quest rapper with Ali Saheed Muhammad), "You", also appeared on the movie soundtrack of "Save The Last Dance".
Imagine if D'angelo was a part of this too, maybe he would stayed skinny and productive. Me miss you man . . .
