THIS IS SO BAY AREA - SCRAPER BIKE

There's a truly inspiring movement going on in Oakland. Scraper bikes — brightly colored, their spokes woven with foil and often decorated with subverted corporate logos — are weaving through the streets.
Started by the young and motivated Tyrone Stevenson Jr., a.k.a. Baybe Champ, the Scraper Bike King, the Original Scraper Bike Team aims to, in Tyrone's words, "make a change in young people's lives, ’cause it's getting them away from the negative things that Oakland has to offer: gangs, drugs, and violence. Youth that's involved with the Scraper Bike Movement are dedicated and passionate about rebuilding our community by fixing and riding our bikes."
Tyrone requires that Scraper Bike Team members maintain a 3.0 grade point average, reside in Oakland, and always ride single file. After videos of Tyrone's work started popping up a couple years ago on YouTube, "more and more kids in my community wanted a Scraper Bike. I had all the kids come to my house and work on bikes," he told us. He's currently working toward starting up a shop. "We need a location in our neighborhood so we can come and fix on our bikes and build the Scraper Bike Team."

MONTE CRISTO & MAC N CHEESE - BLUE (SF)

C-Mac and I had a craving for some comfort food so we headed out to Market and 16th to
check out Blue. The Prices are fair and the menu has a nice selection of familiar dishes. We decided to try the Monte Cristo and the Blue Bacon Mac N Cheese
The winner here is the Mac N Cheese. There is four delicious choices including the Gourmet, Blue Bacon which we ordered, the Rock Shrimp and the flamming Mac. Oh Cheesy goodness... the Bacon added nice flavor to the already rich and creamy dish. If you are feel like pigging out check out Blue...

SAN DIEGO NOT FEELING BARRY Mc GEE MURAL

This is what San Diego needs. More art projects to this plain and boring down town yuppie area. If there's more art you might actually get some talented people rolling through and leaving some memorable art work that can last for decades. I hope this survives.
“I think it’s awful, it’s an ugly eyesore,” complains a San Diego resident of a commissioned mural by Barry McGee directly across from City Hall. Looks like the controversy will never end when it comes to the debate between “graffiti and art” -- even when McGee is involved.
The Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego commissioned Barry McGee to paint a mural as part of a large exhibit showcasing street art. The unfinished mural has garnered a lot of attention, much of it negative.
A local cop asks “What’s graffiti and what’s not?” Others say, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”
The museum says that once the mural in completed in the next few days, if reaction is still negative they will remove it.
See why the people want this out of SAN DIEGO

HOMENAGEM MUSICAL AO FUTEBOL BRASILEIRO

The Ambassador is back with a new mix dedicated to the World Cup... This is FIRE.. Check out the Soul-Spectrum blog to download this mix
The Ambassador:
Welcome back people! Sorry for the absence here on Soul Spectrum. There's been a lot happening back on the ranch that unfortunately nudged this fun diversion to the back burner for the past couple months. But as I've been getting caught up in the excitement of the World Cup I was galvanized last night to make a mix in honor of the first Brazil game I've been able to watch in this tournament. It was a good, close game with Brazil's colonial rivals that just ended in a 0-0 draw, but the shelf-life of this mix will last at least into the next round, if not longer. I'm of course cheering for the USA, but last time I checked there aren't too many songs about American soccer, or at least not yet.

THE BUGZ ARE BACK

Here is a sneak peek from the fourth coming Bugz remix project.
IZZIE DUNN - NOTHING BUT LOVE (BUGZ IN THE ATTIC REMIX 2010)
LEROY BURGESS - THROWBACK VOL.2

Oh man, oh man, oh man...
Continuing Leroy's adventures into the past (through the contents of the 2 boxes), this volume illustrates the further evolution of his partners and I in the creation of the music which would identify us for years to come. Things were changing. Disco and boogie were evolving into house. Hip-hop was in its infancy. As always, the music was a reflection of the times... and the times were changing. Leroy selects songs for this collection from further down the time line, to reflect how they were trying to change with them.
