TENSKANE - HOLDING BACK (MY LOVE)

DR. RUBBERFUNK

DJing since 1992 and playing drums since 1987. Started making beats and pieces with an Akai sampler and an Apple Mac in 1997. The first Dr Rubberfunk release was 'Harry The Guitar' in 2001, followed by 'The First Cut', debut album in 2003. The response to the first album has been great, and in their infinite wisdom the record label asked me to do another one; entitled 'My Life At 33' it was released in October 2006, and seems to have gone down quite well so far too. Check the 'My Life At 33' Remixes EP too for some excellent and varied reworks.

Signed to Jalapeno Records for his third album, and released an EP of new material in early 2008, with the 'Hot Stone' album due in early 2010. Vocal contributions on Hot Stone come from Roachford, Sitzka & John Turrell amongst others, with instrumentalists including Todd Simon (The Lions / Breakestra) and Ben Castle alongside long-time members of Team Rubberfunk!

UNLIMITED TOUCH

Unlimited Touch was a New York based post disco group who had some regional fame in the early eighties. The group consisted of Audrey Wheeler, Phil Hamilton, Tony Cintron, Sandy Anderson, Stephanie James and Lenny Underwood. Raymond Reid and William Anderson from New York-based band Crown Heights Affair instigated Unlimited Touch in the early '80s, but they were not part of the band. The group was signed to Prelude Records (via Epic Records in the U.K.).

Dam Funk "Funk's Revenge" Mix CD and T-shirt

Coming straight from Los Angeles, Dam Funk is known as the "Boogie Funk Ambassador", an artist who has been working since the mid 80's as a mult-instrumentalist, DJ, record collector, producer and vocalist; this guy is a renaissance man of all things funk. In the last couple years he has been gg an avalanche of press over his modern funk productions with a sound that brims with vintage synthesizers, stuttering handclaps, and low slung grooves that conjures late night drives through the Los Angeles metropolis. Working in the tradition of Slave, early Prince, Preettinlude Records and ZAPP, here is a sound that is spiritual and robotic, iconoclastic yet still rooted in the tradition of his elders.

It is a great honor we present to you the Dam-Funk "Funk's Revenge" Mix CD and T-shirt. This special collaboration includes a mix cd by Dam Funk himself and t-shirt design ispired by one of Dam Funk's favorite album covers

PACHA MASSIVE

BIG up my peoples at NACIONAL RECORDS

Dominican-born Nova (keys/guitar /writer/producer) and Colombian-born Maya (writer/bass). The band, from the Bronx, New York City, was Nacional Records’ first U.S.-based signing. Their music is a funky bilingual fusion of traditional Latin rhythms] like Colombian cumbia, Dominican palo, reggae, dancehall, dub and electronica.

The group released its debut album, All Good Things, on Nacional Records in February 2007. Pacha Massive have shared the stage with artists like Ozomatli, Café Tacvba, Los Amigos Invisibles, Aterciopelados, Sidestepper, and Yerba Buena. MTV Tr3s selected Pacha Massive as the channel’s first Descubre and Download artist, featuring the single "Don't Let Go.". They also co-hosted the popular weekly countdown show Mi TRLin February 2007.

PARK LIFE - ART SHOW = SF

Bro Palace is the title of our upcoming art show featuring the work of Skinner, Porous Walker, Jay Howell, Deth P Sun and Ferris Plock. Although their work is mostly rooted in illustration, each artist has a very distinct and instantly recognizable style. From psychedelic mash-ups to ink drawings to sculpture this show promises to tickle the artistic fancy of a wide viewing audience. To further add a touch of mayhem, the SF based band Thee Oh Sees will be playing a special set during the night of the reception. This show is not to be missed, bro.

Artist Bio:

Skinner - is an obsessive painter / illustrator who collects animals and friends while envisioning the end of all humans in his psychedelic nightmare paintings too hideous to behold.

Porous Walker - is somebody.
Porous draws, paints, writes, sculpts, acts, films, photos, fashion designs and anything else it takes to get his vision across. Porous has shown works all around the globe and even in fancy places like the NY MOMA. His works have been featured in major motion pictures and television.
Porous Walker has been officially selected by himself to waste hours
of your time with his crap.

Jay Howell - is an all around kind dude that draws funny-ass cartoons and stuff. He lives in San Francisco where he can be seen on the streets messin’ around and sayin’ classic shit on a regular basis.

Deth P. - Sun is a painter/illustrator currently residing in Berkeley, California. He is originally from San Diego, California, and moved up to the Bay Area for schooling. He received his BFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts in 2002 in Painting and Drawing.

Ferris Plock - is an artist who currently enjoys drawing tacos fighting burgers in a battle for fast food supremacy. He can be found roaming the beautiful streets of Western Addition with his wife and his son. He has been creating his art for a few years now and hopes to continue to do so in the near and distant future. He is very excited to be working with the likes of Deth, Jay, Porous, and Skinner.

ROBERT-MARS

Robert Mars is design director for Zoo York by day; fine artist by night. For a man so integral in the aesthetic of this urban design institution, the subject matter and style of his personal work are a surprising departure from the established look of Zoo York.

While Zoo York is unapologetically urban and aptly captures gritty skateboarding culture, Mars’ own painting and mixed media work samples from a larger pool of American culture, something he dubs as “a chronicle of Americana” that exploits a shared nostalgia for the past and has the vintage quality of 1950s and 60s American design and advertising art.

BUG

THANKS TO GAVIN OVER AT "I JUST LIKE MUSIC RECORDS" FOR HOOKING THIS UP

24 year-old Londoner, BUG, is a keyboard player, songwriter and producer. Under the moniker, BUG, he creates an experimental, instrumentally grounded style of music with a compositional approach. The BUG sound encompasses the finer elements of hip-hop and neo-soul, yet the real beauty is in the delivery. Think the smooth richness of the Dam-Funk vibe, the solid construction of a Dilla beat, the electronic wizardry of Flying Lotus and the soulful melodies of Lonnie Liston Smith's jazz.

MR. CHOP - I LOVE IT WHEN I GET FREE MUSIC

THANKS DJ F AT BREAKSHOP

Mr. Chop
– the multi-talented producer, engineer, guitar-reared multi-instrumentalist behind a host of releases on Now-Again and Jazzman Records – couldn’t have foretold that the legendary rapper MF DOOM would call him “the illest to grace the boards” after tapping into his otherworldly skills as co-producer/co-writer on a series of tracks on the recently released Born Like This album on Lex Records. Nor could we have foretold that DOOM’s praise would lead to an offer to rework psych funk, jazz and rock covers of producer Pete Rock’s greatest beats.

Nor could he have called that Pete Rock’s long time collaborator – upon hearing the versions of “T.R.O.Y.” and “Straighten It Out” would beg to record an album with him.

But here it is, standing proudly behind 17 tracks that he recorded at his Cheshire, England-based Ape Studios. This is a unique take and has lead to an album that “the heads” will recognize by, say, the Tom Scott sax-line Pete Rock poached for “T.R.O.Y.,” that Chop has deconstructed into its component parts and reassembled again. But this is an album that will appeal to music lovers, regardless of their musical leaning, as a master-class in fuzzy, funky grooves.

TROY IS GOOD BUT I LIKE THIS ONE
